This is Talk Number 10 in a series that will become the You are a media company course. This is the third of the 4 that I will speak about the blog and why it’s important. Last chat, we spoke about best practices and tips. This chat, I will focus on the things you should keep in mind about blogs.
Definition of a blog: A blog (shortening of “weblog”) is an online journal or informational website displaying information in the reverse chronological order, with latest posts appearing first. It is a platform where a writer or even a group of writers share their views on an individual subject.

Blog is what you make of it. There’s no requirement to how you have to use and leverage your blog.

Blogs are really good for SEO

WordPress is a great platform for blogging but it’s not the only one

It helps you drive traffic to your blog and website

You have the opportunity to convert traffic into leads (e.g. with a ebook or free offer)

Helps with authority positioning (think linkedIn)

Drives long-term results

It’s a way to interact with client (eg. answering questions and comments)

If you build it, they won’t come

Frequency is key: According to HubSpot, 78% of Internet users conduct product research online.
Here’s some interesting statistics

Companies that published 16+ blog posts per month got almost 3.5X more traffic than companies that published between 0 – 4 monthly posts.

2B companies that blogged 11+ times per month had almost 3X more traffic than those blogging 0 – 1 times per month.

Companies that published 16+ blog posts per month got about 4.5X more leads than companies that published between 0 – 4 monthly posts.

B2C companies that blogged 11+ times per month got more than 4X as many leads than those that blog only 4 – 5 times per month.

Companies that had published 401+ blog posts in total got about twice as much traffic as companies that published 301 – 400 blog posts.
