This is Talk Number 10 in a series that will become the You are a media company course. This is the third of the 4 that I will speak about the blog and why it’s important. Last chat, we spoke about best practices and tips. This chat, I will focus on the things you should keep in mind about blogs.
Definition of a blog: A blog (shortening of “weblog”) is an online journal or informational website displaying information in the reverse chronological order, with latest posts appearing first. It is a platform where a writer or even a group of writers share their views on an individual subject.
  1. Blog is what you make of it. There’s no requirement to how you have to use and leverage your blog. 
  2. Blogs are really good for SEO
  3. WordPress is a great platform for blogging but it’s not the only one
  4. It helps you drive traffic to your blog and website
  5. You have the opportunity to convert traffic into leads (e.g. with a ebook or free offer) 
  6. Helps with authority positioning (think linkedIn)
  7. Drives long-term results
  8. It’s a way to interact with client (eg. answering questions and comments)
  9. If you build it, they won’t come
  10. Frequency is key: According to HubSpot, 78% of Internet users conduct product research online.
